CRASH NEAR FAIRLIE
Farmer-Pilot Badly Hurt (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, October 6. A Fairlie farmer was seriously injured today when the Tiger Moth aircarft he was piloting crashed soon after take-off from an airstrip on his farm. He is John Kitchener Muldrow, aged 45, married, with four children, of Sherwood, Fairlie. He received multiple fractures, lacerations and abrasions. Neighbouring farmers who saw the crash said the aircraft apparently got out of control as it rose into a strong, gusting wind. ft crashed into the bank of a nearby stream. Mr Muldrew was taken bv ambulance to Timaru Hos*pital. His condition tonight was satisfactory. A member of the R.N.Z.A.F. in the Second World War, Mr Muldrew is a well-known farmer-pilot of the Fairlie district. He flew an Auster aircraft from his property for some time. It is understood he took delivery of the Tiger Moth at the Timaru airport at Levels only this morning.
