DUMPING OF BUTTER
No Agreement Expected (Special Crspdt N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, October 2. No hope now exists of a voluntary agreement by dumping and subsidising countries to reduce their supplies of butter to the British market, it is learned. It is also believed that the recent General Agreement on Tariff and Trade meeting in Geneva, which broke up without any positive result, will not be reconvened. This means that the position is now exactly as it was before the G.A.T.T. meeting, and that the Board of Trade is contemplating action on the applications of New Zealand and Denmark for anti-dumping or countervailing duties to be imposed.
