Farmer Fined £45

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYM., Oct.’2. An Okato farmer, Alexander William Strachan, who according to the police used fencing wire to pierce and pin back the ears of two cows, and also twisted wire round the nose of a cow. was today fined a total of £45 on two charges of cruelly illtreating the animals. Strachan pleaded guilty to the charges before Mr E. F. Rothwell, S.M., in the New Plymouth Magistrate’s The offences, which occurred on Strachan's farm, concerned a Jersey heifer owned by Montague Leslie Honeyfleld. and one owned by Stracjian. Strachan was fined £3O on the charge concerning Honeyfield’s heifer, and £l5 on the second charge.
