LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Dominion Officers

Mrs W. Grant was reelected Dominion president, Mrs H. C. L. Pruden Dominion secretary, and Mrs G. M. Martin Dominion treasurer at the League of Mothers’ annual Dominion council meeting, held last week in New Plymouth. All these officers are from Christchurch. Other Dominion officers elected were: honorary president, Viscountess Cobham; vice-presidents. Mesdames S. O. English, G, H. Flenumf, C. G. White, A. L. Wall, H. H. Cornish, L. D. Mclver, Montgomery Spencer, and Dr. Elizabeth Bryson; League of Mothers’ monthly magazine editor. Mrs Hl Tucker, Mrs A F. Meldrum (magazine secretary) and Mrs L. Hall (magazine treasurer). At a conversazione held at the Taranaki Women's Club, the Mayoress of New Plymouth (Mrs A. G. Honnor), and the wife of the member of Parliament, Mrs E. P. Aderman, welcomed 40 delegates from all parts ot the Dominion. The theme of the council meeting was “wider horizon a” •

A function was held in the New Plymouth War Memorial Hall, when delegates were entertained, and 500 women from all parts of Taranaki attended. Mrs W. Grant gave an address, and items were given by league members. Members of the New Plymouth Little Theatre presented a play called “Twentieth Century Lullaby.” Delegates were taken on • scenic drive and visited the Norton beehive house. A luncheon was held at the end of the council meeting when hostesses were entertained and gifts made to the officers at Taranaki province.
