Dottie's Pick paced one mile as a four-year-old in Imin 56 Msec at Inglewood, California, in 1956. Good Counsel recorded Imin 57scc as a three-year-old at Saratoga Springs tn 1957. Arania's trainer, W. Houghton, is keen that she should make a further attempt on the world record. The world record for one mile is Imin 54 3-ssec, established last year by the brilliant Adios Butler, which is expected to make an attempt to lower that figure in the next few weeks. Greyhound trotted one mile in Imin 55jsec at Lexington in 1938, and the fastest time by a trotting mare is Imin 56{sec, returned by Rosalind in 1938. Billy Direct paced one mile in Imin 55sec rt Lexington, a record which stood unchallenged until Adios Harry equalled it at Vernon in 1955. The New Zealand and Australian record for one mile is Imin 57 3-ssec, established by Caduceus at Addington in 1959. Caduceus is at present racing with distinction in the United States.
