750 At Synod Service
"I do not think that as a church we are yet involved to mankind,” said the Rev. J. McCulloch, rector of lit-Mary-le-Bow, London, to about 750 persons in Chrletchurch Cathedral last evenMcCulloch preached the sermon at the service of the Synod of the Diocese of Christchurch.
The industrial revolution had made men involved with other men, Mr McCulloch said. Two hundred years ago about 20 persons would produce a loaf of bread. Today at least 20,000 persons would be involved to the production. He said he believed the Church should not be concerned with the saving of individuals, but with the structure of human groups. Clergy attending moved to procession around the Cathedral before the service.
The precentor of the Cathedral (the Rev. Canon W. A Orange) officiated. Lessons were read by Mr L. R. Burgess, a lay reader, and Mr A J. Scott, a Jay canon of the Cathedral
