Maris Eclipses Babe Ruth
York Yankees, hit his sixtyfirst home run of the season today to break the record set by Babe Ruth in 1887. It was the last American League game of the season. The Yankees beat the Boston Redaox 1-0. The crowd of about 25,000 roared as the ball sailed 120 yards to land to the stands behind right field to Yankee Stadium. It landed near where Ruth’s sixtieth home run disappeared into the crowd 34 years ago yesterday.
