Manchester University today prepared to welcome international scientists who will arrive on Monday for a five-day conference commemorating the work of the first man to split the atom, Lord Rutherford. The conference will mainly be in private.

Four distinguished scientists will received honorary degrees of the university. They are: the president of the conference. Sir Ernest Marsden, cf New Zealand; Professor A B>hr of Denmark. Professor Giulio Racah. Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and an Austrian - born American physicist, Professor Victor Weissfoopf. Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Cambridge, Massachusetts.
