C. A. Evans Wins N.Z. Title
Winning all seven games. C. A. Evans (Te Awamutu College) became the New Zealand schoolboys’ chess champion at the final session of the tournament in Christchurch yesterday. In last year’s championship at Palmerston North, Evans was joint runner-up, half a point behind the joint winners. Final scores were:—
C. A. Evans (Te Awamutu). 7 points: N. M. Cooper (Christchurch 8.H.5.) and M. N. Robb (Otago 8.H.5,), 4; R. Taylor (Tamaki Intermediate School), 3J; R. M. Bibby (Otago 8.H.5.) and D. H. Simpson (Wellington College). 3; R D. Campbell (Hutt Valiev H.S.). 2; A. Innes (Shirley 8.H.5.), IJ. Results of seventh round games were:—
