MOTOR-VEHICLE LICENCES
Special Session Today Motor-vehicle registrations at the Christchurch Chief Post Office for the new licencing period totalled 50.449 by the time the office closed on Thursday. exceeding the June 29 figure last year by more than 8000 Yesterday, the office was very busy all day both during its norma! opening hours and in the special evening session, but there was little queuing as the large staff orovided by the Post Office kept ahead of the demand. A further specal session will be held from 9 a.m. to 1130 a m. today in the Wentworth Building in Hereford street, which will be the only counter open. On Thursday 4729 licences were issued—2o fewer than on the previous day. which was the record for the present rush period. Up to Thursday. 11.964 licences were issued in bulk and 6718 *bv post.
