Visit By London's Lord Mayor
Arrangements have not been completed for the visit of the Lord Mayor of London (Sir Bernard WaleyCohen), Lady Waley-Cohen, two sheriffs and other dignitaries of the City of London to Christchurch from August 30 to September 1: but it is expected that the entertainment will follow the lines adopted when Sir Denys Lowson. the only other Lord Mayor of London to visit Christchurch, was here in 1951. There was then a civic reception and civic luncheon, and Sir Denys Lowson was entertained by tee combined Empire societies and the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce.
