VANS AT RACES
Suggestions Of S.P.C.A. (N.Z Press Association) TIMARU, March 27. Mr C. C. Lennon, who is president of the Federation of New Zealand Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, made the following statement in Timaru today: “At the council meeting held in Wellington last week it was decided to send a recommendation to the New Zealand Racing and Trotting Conferences that between them they purchase vans, particularly for the main centres, which can be used at all provincial meetings and are equipped with the necessary veterinary supplies and screens. “These vans are to be placed on the courses for an emergency such as happened at the Oamaru races on Monday. Apart from main centres, it is not possible for local S.P.C.A.’s to supply vans for this purpose. "If our organisation can assist in any shape or form it is always prepared to cooperate,” he said.
