Government To Be Formed
(N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) : NAIROBI, March 18.; The Governor of Kenya (Sir Patrick Renison) today began forming a new Government in spite of the refusal of two main African parties to take part unless I the Mau Mau leader Jomo| Kenyatta is released. A Government spokesman said it was hoped that the I Government would be formed in time for the official open-1 ing on April 6 of the new Legislative Council—in which | Africans will have a majority I as a result of the recent elec- I tion. Kenyatta, at present living I under restriction at Lodwar, | Northern Kenya, told leaders of the Kenya African National, Union and Kenya African! Democratic Union in a message yesterday that he wanted ' 12 of them to visit him in a! bid to achieve a unified approach. K.A.D.U. leaders have already visited Kenyatta, but*! those of K.A.N.U. have so far! declined. It is believed however that I K.A.N.U. elected members in I the Legislative Council will meet today to consider! whether they should reverse! their decision. Kenyatta's message also said he did not object to the Govei nor s plans to move him to Maralal, t which is nearer to Nairobi.
