LORDSHIP AGAIN

Easy Win At Wyndham

"The Press'* Special Service INVERCARGILL, March 19. Lordship scored his fourth success on end when he gave a polished performance to win the first New Zealand Kindergarten Stakes, the feature event on the second day of the Wyndham Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday. The Johnny Globe colt was first out, i set an easy pace over the first three furlongs, secured the trail !to ’ the straight, and when he ! worked into the open at the ! top of the straight he ran right I away from the others. I He was given a wonderful reception when he returned to [scale. Lordship was followed j home by Consistent and Adioson. also from Canterbury, but neither had any chance with him. The Kindergarten Stakes, the first major classic staged in Southland, was well received by the public, who appreciated having the chance to see a champion two-year-old in action. Lordship was backed down to odds on. Consistent. Cheta, Fallair. Snell, Willycan and Island Magic all gave ground at the start. Lordship galloped into his I hopples, and at the mile was making the running from Adioson. Watt Tyler, which tangled and checked Cardiff Arms, and Consistent, with Snell four lengths back. Consistent moved round the outer to lead into the back, and at the half he was clear of Lordship, with Cheta, Garrison Gold and Adioson racing in line ahead of Snell, Watt Tyler and Cardiff Arms. Consistent held his ground to the straight, where Lordship worked clear ahead of Adioson, Garrison Gold, Snell and Watt Tyler. Lordship immediately put a break on his field and coasted home the easiest of winners by two and a half lengths from Consistent, which beat ' Adioson by a length. Garrison • Gold was five lengths back fourth, with a similar margin to Watt Tyler, ahead of Cheta. Fallair. and a gap to Snell. The totalisator handled £22.714, a drop of £6394 on last year's second day turnover of £29,108. For the two days the totalisator handled £42.019, compared with £48.578 last year, a decrease of £6559. For both days of this year’s meeting the weather was unfavourable. The winning double, the Joylyn-Emanuel bracket in the Wyndham Handicap and Stinger in the Edendale Handicap, returned £l9 2s 6d for £l.
