DEATH AT 104
Mr Jeremiah Kelly Mr Jeremiah Kelly, of Christchurch, died yesterday in his one hundred and fifth year. Mr Kelly came to New Zealand from Ireland in the Waitangi in 1887. He died in the Mary Potter Hospice. Calvary Hospital, where he had spent the last 14 months. A farmer most of his life. Mr Kelly lived on the West Coast for five years, and in South Canterbury for more than 50 years. He gave up farming and came to Christchurch 27 years ago after an accident in which he broke both his legs. Although slightly deaf. Mr Kelly spent his last years in good health. He enjoyed playing patience, going for car rides, and smoking his pipe. He celebrated his one hundred and fourth birthday on New Year’s day. Mr Kelly has nine children —'three daughters and six sons.
