Swimming PROVINCIAL RECORDS
Three Attempts Succeed Three Canterbury swimmers were successful in special attempts on privincial records at the Centennial Pool on Saturday. This week and next, several more attempts will be made on both Canterbury and New Zealand times On Saturday. G. Stringer broke the Canterbury 220 yards junior boys’ medley record held by himself. Stringer’s new time was 2min 47.8 sec, compared with his old time of 2min 49.75ec set up at the Canterbury championships in January. A. M"Donald equalled the required time of 28 ssec in the 55 yards junior boys’ freestyle and can now claiffl the record McDonald is better known as a breaststroke swimmer. Miss H Broughton, of the St. Albans club, joins a select band together with Misses S. Nicholson and E Edwards who share the Canterbury 55 yards junior girls’ freestyle record. Her time was 33sec.
