CAR HIT BY ENGINE
Post woman Badly Hurt (HZ Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 19 A postwoman was taken to Auckland Hospital after her car was struck by a locomotive and hurled more than 100 feet at New Lynn on Saturday afternoon She is Mrs Dorothy Mav Murphy, aged 42. wife of Mr Thomas Murphy, of Seymour road. Sunnyvale. Henderson. She received concussion and a broken left leg Her condition tonight was described as "fairly satisfactory" Fears were held that Mrs Murphv’s baby was missing when Mrs Murphy cried out for it after the crash Police and volunteers searched for an hour in hedges and long grass. The child was later found safe at home The accident occurred about 1 p.m. at the Fruitvale road level-crossing which equipped with lights and bells. The locomotive, a diesel, was travelling from Henderson to the city
