PLANS FOR ILUMQUH
No Australian Campaign
“The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Feb. 20 The Caulfield and Williamstown Cup winner, Ilumquh, will not fulfil his engagements in the Invitation Stakes and the Sydney Cup at the Aj.C. autumn meeting, which opens next month. His owner, Mr A. C. Williams, made this announcement today. Ilumquh has been spelling at Te Parae since he raced in the Wellington Cup and returned to E. Ropiha’s stable at Woodville last Thursday. It is intended to give him a race or two in April and then spell him during the winter. At present it is not proposed to undertake another spring campaign to Melbourne. A complete change of programme aims at having him ready for the Auckland Cup and the Wellington Cup in the summer and then the Sydney Cup in the autumn. Ropiha’s stable is still likely to be represented in the Sydney Cup by Kingdom, which has not raced since he won the Wellington Racing .Club Handicap at Trentham in January when making his first appearance in open company. Ilumquh 4iid, not start tn that event, but was weighted to give Kingdom 291 b. Stable opinion at the time was that in their January form, Ilumquh could not have given Kingdom the weight. In the Sydney Cup, . Ilumquh has 9-0 and Kingdom 7-10, a difference of ' 181 b.
