Civic Centre To Go

The promising three-year-old stayer, Civic Centre, has been sold to Australia The Randwick trainer, C. Ryan, has purchased him on behalf of a client from the McFetridge Brothers, who bred and raced him.
Civic Centre won as a two-year-old at Hastings and was later gelded. He has raced consistently with very little luck as a three-year-old. His best effort was when he finished fast for third close up in the Waikato Guineas, won by Stipulate. He looked a prospect in the long staying three-year-old races when an unlucky third over a middle distance behind Rugjby and Bonnie Rose at Paeroa.
He ran prominently in the Great Northern Derby, leading until inside the furlong He ran third to Old Parr and Atlas at his next start, at Avondale, and unplaced at Pukekohe on January 21, since when he has been spelling.
