Crowing Roosters
Sir, —I was interested to read Mr Wills's wish to see playground equipment in every backyard. To make room for backyard play equipment I suggest the time is overdue for the Health Department to enforce removal of backyard poultry. Most fowlhouscs are dirty and terrible fly breeding haunts. In the built-up districts no poultry keeping should be allowed. Little if anything is saved by keeping hens. The egg-floor eggs are better than many so-called farmhouse eggs bought in the past and certainly cleaner. A poultry clean-up would prevent many doctors* bills and much illness. —Yours, etc., ANTI-FLY. February 2, 1961.
