DAVIS CUP DRAW
New Zealand To Play Israel (A.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Jan. 24. New Zealand will play Israel fin the fourth section of the I European Zone of the Davis Cup contest this year. The draw was made at Kooyong Courts, Melbourne, I today by the president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (Mr N. Strange). The draw for the European zone of the Davis Cup first round (to be played by May 7) is:— First section: Chile v. Belgium. Switzerland v. Netheri lands. Czechoslovakia v. Germany. Second section: Brazil v. United Arab Republic. Ireland v. Poland, Luxembourg v. Monaco. Third section: South Africa v. Rumania, Turkey v. Finland. Austria v. Norway. fourth section: New Zealand v. Israel, Yugoslavia v. Spain, Denmark v. Hungary. The second round is to be played by June 6:— First section: Italy v. winner Chile v. Belgium match, winner Switzerland-Netherlands meets winner CzechoslovakiaGermany. Second section: France meets winner of Brazil-United Arab Republic, winner IrelandPoland meets winner Luxem-bourg-Monaco. Third section: Britain meets winner Austria-Norway, winner South Africa-Rumania meets winner Turkey-Finland. Fourth section: Sweden meets winner Denmark-Hun-gary, winner New Zealand v. Israel meets winner Yugo-slavia-Spain.
The third round must be played by June 18. the semifinals by July 7 and the final by July 30.
