Mayor At Reception To Drivers
(New Zealand Pres* Assortation) AUCKLAND. January 2. An air pageant at the opening of Mangere airport might eclipse the New Zealand International Grand Prix as the most important sporting even) in Auckland, the Mayor (Mr D. M. Robinson) told oversea* racing driver* at a reception in the Auckland Town Hall today. Mr Robinson said he had once held two world motor-cycling records himself. For that reason he was particularly interested In motor-cycle and car racing, and had some understanding of the problems the drivers faced. In the next few years, he said, the increase in the number of motor-vehicles In the world would be greater in proportion than th; rapid expansion of ponulation. Other speakers were G. Hill (visiting drivers), Mr J. N. Cooper (tesm managers). *nd th* president of the grand prix committee (Mr W. H. Knox).
