MANSEL OUT OF GRAND PRIX
Car Missed Ship For NX (New Zealand Pres* AsaecteHon) AUCKLAND. January 3. The Auckland racing driver. J. Mansel, is almost certainly out of the New Zealand International Grand Prix to be held at Ardmore on January 7. His Tec-Mec car. which was to have been shipped from Sydney in the Wanganelia on Friday, is still in Australia. A transporter rushing' the car from Melbourne to Sydney broke down and the Wanganelia sailed without the car. Mansel said today that he was bitterly disappointed, but did not see how he could get th* car to Auckland in time. The only way would be by air and the cost would be prohibitive. He said he would probably bring the ear across by ship in time to race In the southern circuit. He intended to compete at Levin on January 14 and at Wigram on January 21.
