PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH
Northern Districts Team Chosen (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 14. The Northern Districts team to play Auckland at Hamilton on December 29, 30 and 31, in the Plunket Shield series is as follows: E- C. Petrie (captain), B. H. Paireudeau. W. P. Bradburn, N. Puna. D. C. Hoskin, N. C. Langdon, and A. F. Lissette (Waikato). G. D. Alabaster and T. E. Shaw (Thames Valley). D. L. Donald (King Country), and R. J. McPherson and N. R Wilson (Northland). Otago Player Injures Hand (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 14. A. E. Dick, the Otago Plunket Shield cricketer, will not play in the match against Canterbury beginning at Dunedin on December 24. Dick injured a hand at work today, and had nine stitches inserted in the wound. Mr J, H. Heslop, the convener of the selection panel, said that Dick would be replaced by W. Robertson (Southland) for the match against Canterbury only. Dick in the meantime was to be retained in the team to make the northern tour. Ames Secretary Of Kent Club (N.Z. Press Association-Copyright) LONDON, December 14. L. Ames, the former Kent and England wicket-keeper and batsman, has been appointed secretarymanager of Kent County Cricket Club. Mr Ames has been manager pf the club since January, 1957. and is the first former professional cricketer to hold the post of secretary at Kent.
