BRITISH FREIGHTER AIRCRAFT
Big Order From United States
A 12 million dollar aircraft order received in Britain for seven Argosy freighter aircraft is the biggest order from America for five years. Riddle Airlines, of Miami, Florida, have placed this order Hawker Siddeley Aviation and have also taken an option on a further eight aircraft. Announcing the sale in Wellington, Sir Andrew McKee, regional director for Hawker Siddeley Aviation said that Riddle’s original requirement was for three Argosies. This was later stepped up to five and had now been increased to seven.
Riddle Airlines operates throughout the world with its 25,000,000 dollar contract from the Military Air Transport Service. The British planes will fly military cargo to 80 Air Force bases in the United States. Deliveries of the aircraft will be completed by April, 1961.
