ARMS TO LAOS REBELS
Supplies By U.S. Stopped (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) VIENTIANE, December 7. United States Embassy sources in Vientiane said today that since November 30, no arms or ammunition had been supplied to troops in regions not loyal to the neutralist Government of Prince Souvanna Phouma. The sources said Prince Souvanna had, on that day, requested the American Ambassador' (Mr Winthrop Brown) to stop giving arms and supplies to troops of the pro-Western rebel leader, General Phoumi Nosavan. November 30 was one day after Phoumi’s troops launched a heavy artillery barrage against the Government. Previously the United States was supplying all units of the Laotian Army under an agreement with the Souvanna Government reached on October 20.
