Special Sailings In Holidays

The Union Steam Ship Company has arranged a series of daylight and special Sunday sailings between Lyttelton and Wellington to cope with holiday traffic. These will be in addition to the normal schedule.

On Friday December 23, the Hinemoa will arrive at Lyttelton at 6.15 a.m. instead of the usual 6.45 a.m. and passengers can be expected to arrive at the Christchurch railway station at 7 a.m. The ship will return to Wellington on a special daylight crossing after the arrival of the 7.45 a.m. train at Lyttelton. The same day, December 23, the Maori will make a daylight sailing from Wellington arriving at Lyttelton at 6 p.m. so that passengers will reach Christchurch about 6.45 p.m. The vessel will leave again for Wellington after the arrival of the 7.37 p.m. train from Christchurch.

On Sunday December 25, the Maori arrives at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. instead of the usual Sunday arrival time of 7 a.m. and passengers are due at Christchurch station at 7.20 a.m. The vessel will return to Wellington the same evening on a special sailing departing after the arrival of the 7.37 p.m. train from Christchurch.

The Hinemoa leaves Wellington at 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 25, and is due at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. on Monday, passengers reaching Christchurch station at 7.20 am

The Maori will leave Wellington at 8.30 a.m, on Sunday January 8, due Lyttelton 6 p.m., passengers arriving Christchurch station about 6.45 p.m. The vessel will,return to Wellington the same evening after arrival of the 7.10 p.m. train from Christchurch. The Hinemoa is due at Lyttelton on Sunday, January 15, at 6.15 a.m. instead of the usual 7 a.m. and will return on a special trip on arrival of the 7.45 a.m. train from Christchurch station. The same vessel leaves Wellington for Lyttelton again at 8 p.m. being due at 6.45 a.m. on Monday.
