A letter from the Auckland centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association confirming dates of the appearances of the international athletes was tabled at a meeting of the Canterbury centre’s executive committee last evening. G. Kerr, because of limited time, will only be able to compete in the meetings in the North Island, but the other three, R. Delaney,* R? Moens, and M. Bernard will appear in all events throughout the country.
The itinerary will be:—January 21, Auckland; January 25, Hawke’s Bay (Napier); January 2fe, Auckland; February 1, Dunedin; February 4, Canterbury; and February 8, Wellington.
The tour, which is sponsored by Agfa N.Z\ Ltd., will also, feature New Zealand athletes including M. G. Halberg and P. G. Snell, the Olympic gold medallists.
For the purposes of completing arrangements for the tour, ai subcommittee was elected and will comprise the following:—-Messrs R. Linton, E. Lunn, and J. Q. Harbut. Mr Lunn was elected convener of the sub-committee.
A letter from the Otago centre extended an invitation to three Canterbury athletes, R. G. Ball, A. Steel, and Miss L. Anderson, to attend a meeting at Dunedin during a festival week to be held in the last week of January. Approval was given by the meeting and it was agreed to forward a copy of the letter to the athletes concerned. A similar decision was reached after another letter was received from the Otago centre inviting G. Hack to a meeting in Dunedin on February 1. Billeting Disapproval was voiced at the lack of co-operation , received from the Otago centre in regard to billeting arrangements for the triangular tournament at Rugby Park this weekend. Mr W. A. Kennedy moved that other centres not responsible for the allocation of billets after the Tuesday before the Saturday on which the meeting was held. An amendment to' the motion introduced by Mr R. Linton said that in the event of troubles in connexion with the late notification by visiting teams concerning billeting requirements, the host centre would ‘‘rigidly enforce” rule 90 from the N.Z.A.A.A. rule book. The Junior Tdc H relay team's record, which was made in the 4 x 440 yards relay at Rugby Park on November 26, was officially recognised. Those in the record-break-ing team were: M. Walls, D. Warren, D. Joyce, D. Solomon. The new time for this distance is 3:35.9.
