FURTHER SEALS REPORTED
Possibility Of Burns From Waste Oil
The theory that “Sorrowful Sam” the seal, who came ashore at Timaru about three weeks ago may have suffered burns while encountering patches of waste '-oil received more weight yesterday when it was reported that a second seal was seen on the beach north of Timaru on Wednesday evening, and that a third seal was observed on the shingle beach off Heaton street that evening and again yesterday morning. The third seal was described as slightly smaller than "Sorrowful Sam,” but more vicious. It also had patches on its skin. At the time this seal was seen by Mr M. Senior, "Sorrowful Sam” was on Caroline Bay.
