CAR TRIAL HELD AT CHEVIOT
Outing By Members Of Knox Church
In spite of the heavy rain last Sunday afternoon, 22 cars and drivers, with far more than the necessary number of navigators and observers, set out on a mystery car trial arranged by the managers and young adult group Of Knox Presbyterian church. Cheviot The course was in two sections with an afternoon tea break between them. The first should have taken 66min 41.5 sec, and the second 99min 15sec (most drivers were within 3 minutes of these times), and the total distance travelled was 65.8 miles. Several persons _who live on the route were amused by . the correct driving and slow speeds of drivers, who usually pass them by in a flurry of dust. Although many of the entrants have lived in the district all their lives, most of them admitted to having learned a great deal about its roads that afternoon, and several became completely lost The trial was followed by a tea and a church service attended by the contestants and others. Results of the trial were: J Calder (driver) and W Gutzewitz (navigator). 50 points' lost. 1: P Burnett and B Morton, 70 points lost, 2; G. Burnett and I. McClure. 150 points lost. ■; Mr and Mrs W.
