Auckland Man As Commander
An Auckland man has been appointed as commanding officer of the Medical Corps Depot, Burnham Military Camp to replace Major G. W. Stanley, who will leave soon to take up an appointment at Army headquarters. Wellington. The Auckland man is Captain J. S. Underdown, who for the last three years has been medical staff officer for the Army in Auckland.
Major Stanley joined the New Zealand Army as a territorial in 1938 and served with the 11th Field Ambulance. During the war he was adjutant of the Netherlands Hospital ship Oranje and for a time was a member of the Fiji military forces. He joined the regular army in 1949 and has been at the Burnham medical depot since.
