ANCHORITE INQUIRY
All Exonerated From Blame
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. A naval board of inquiry has exonerated lieutenant - Commander W. L. Owen, R.N., and his crew from any bame for the mishap in which the submarine H.M.S. Anchorite hit an uncharter rock in the Hauraki gulf on October 3. The submarine exercise area in the gulf has been closed until it can be resurveyed. H.M.N.Z.S. Lachlan will probably begin this work early next year. Endorsing the findings of the inquiry the Naval Board said no blame was attributable to anyone, no disciplinary action had been taken nor was any proposed. The inquiry also found that actions of the commanding officer after the accident were commensurate with precautions necessary to ensure the safety of the submarine.
