‘Mayoral’ Contest In Thorndon (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 20. Mr Ron Urry, representing Wellington South industries, wag elected by a comfortable majority, as the 1960 “Mayor of Thorndon” as the climax to an appeal for the blind that has eclipsed all previous records in the campaign s 20 years of existence. The three weeks' campaign in Wellington raised a total of £10.865 15s lid tn penny votes. Of this Mr Urry, a bread delivery roundsman, was accorded £4831 6s 4d in 1.159,516 penny votes.
