Obituary REV. C. J. ROBERTS
(Neus' Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 20. The Rev. Cyril John Lamplow Roberts, assistant priest at St. Paul’s Church, Auckland, since 1957, died suddenly on Saturday. He was 61. Mr Roberts was born at Wakefield, Nelson, and before his ordination as a deacon in 1951 was a journalist. As a member of the staff of the "Hawera Star,” he specialised in Rugby reporting and also was the author of a book on the history of Hawera and the Waimate Plains. He served in the First World War with the Rifle Brigade, and during the Second World War saw service in the Pacific with the R.N.Z.A.F., reaching the rank of flying officer. He is survived by his-wife, two sons and one daughter.
