“Pill To Prevent Heart Attacks”

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, October 13. It would be possible to prevent coronary thrombosis within five or 10 years, the secretary-general of the Chest and Heart Association, Dr. J. H. Harley Williams, said yesterday. He said that preventive medicine for the middle-aged would be the concern of the future. A pill to prevent heart attacks was a possibility but required a good deal of research, he said, according to the “Daily Telegraph.” About 200 persons died every day from heart attacks, but it was not yet known whether these deaths were caused through laziness, or a diet with too much animal fat.
