RADIO VETERANS’ REUNION
25 Years’ Operating Experience A reunion and dinner organised by the Old Timers’ Club of the New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters, was held recently. Every member present had had at least 25 years' experience as an amateur radio operator. Apert from amateur transmissions many of those present had taken part in research work, rescue communications and radio service in the forces.
A presentation was made to Mr H. Simplon, who obtained his transmitting licence in 1924. Some of the difficulties of transmitting in the 1920’5, when equipment was hard to obtain and not always reliable, were recalled by Mr Simpson.
