NORTHERN ROAD OUTLET
Discussions Held At Kaiapoi Discussions on the proposed northern road outlet from Christchurch were held between the Kaiapoi Borough Council’s townplanning committee and Ministry of Works engineers last evening. Discussion was mainly about the section of the motorway north from Chaneys, particularly where the road will affect the Kaiapoi borough. The future growth of Kaiapoi and its ultimate street pattern, and the best position for the motorway stations, were discussed. Attending the meeting on behalf of the Ministry of Works were Mr H. B. Goodman (resident engineer) and Mr H. Boyd (an assistant engineer). The Regional Planning Officer (Miss N. Northcroft) also attended. Members of the Kaiapoi Borough Council’s town-planning committee are the Mayor (Mr O. M. Williams), and Crs. E. H. Booker (chairman), R. T. Smith, K. Sinclair, B. M. Thompson and T. L. Williams.
