ROYAL MUSICAL SOCIETY
Wellington Mission Sends Thanks
On the recent visit of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society to Wellington for performances of the Bach “St. Matthew Passion" and Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis.” the proceeds of the Sunday afternoon concert of the Beethoven piece were presented to the Wellington Anglican City Mission. The Wellington City Missioner (the Rev. W. G. Heerdegen), in a letter to the editor of ’The Press" writes: "Seeing that we are on the verge of erecting another home for the aged, the gift was greatly appreciated. As it was impossible on the occasion to say thank you to Mr E. R. Field-Dogson and his choir. I am doing so now in order that all the people of Canterbury will know that the action of the choir in coming so far has put the city of Wellington in their debt”
