More Marriages So Far This Year
The number of marriages increased. compared with the corresponding seven months of last year, and births and deaths declined, according to figures from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, up to 4 p.m. yesterday. Figures for July and the year to date, with the same period last year in parenthesis are: — Births, 439, 3014 430, 3031); deaths, 229, 1300 (265, 1371); notices of marriage, 127, 1105 (110, 1081); marriages by registrar, 50, 221 (36, 229).
Television Fee.—From Monday, owners of television sets in the whole of the Auckland Province north of. a line running northeast from the mouth of the Mokau river to Tauranga will be required to pay the initial television licensing fee of £4 a year. —(PA.)
