NEW FERTILISER WORKS

Northland Project Authorised (New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, July 29. The Capital Issues Committee has consented to the formation of a £600,000 company for the purpose of erecting a fertiliser works at Taumarere, near Kawakawa. The new company will be known as the Northland Fertiliser Company, Ltd. The works will have an annual capacity of about 100,000 tons of superphosphate and it is expected that they will be in operation in about three years. The principal shareholders will be the Challenge Phosphate Company, Ltd., Kempthorne Prosser and Company, the New Zealand Drug Company, Ltd., and the New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser Company, Ltd. The managing director of the New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser (Mr A. W. H. Nixon) said today that shares would be offered to Northland farmers and dairy companies. Mr Nixon said the £600,000 capital of the company would not be sufficient to build the works.
