Taxation
Sir.—At a meeting a few weeks ago Mr Nordmeyer told his audience that Mr Holyoake was not fit to be on the Treasury benches. What about one who borrows millions at 6 per cent, and lets it out again at 3 per cent? To rob the taxpayers for the deficiency is a crime. When this Government took office. National Provident beneficiaries were promised £2 a week extra; but after two years we are fleeced for £156. Is this the way their promises are fulfilled? Or do they intend to hand it out in bonuses? If so, when?—Yours, etc., AJAX. April 24. 1960. [A proof of this letter was sent to Mr Nordmeyer inviting his comments. No reply has been received.)
