International Relief
Sir.—ln a letter dated May 30. a correspondent, “No Marks for Marx,” had some nasty things to say about the omission of the Soviets to contribute towards international relief. I wrote to a high school girl, whom I met in Korsakov. Sakhalin, who is learning English, enclosing the letter of “No Marks for Marx.” Her reply says all Russians contribute generously to the Soviet Red Cross Society, which deals with international relief and tragedies. In the case of the Agadir victims, a large steamer, the Nikolai Pirogov, loaded with medical supplies, food, clothing, and other essentials, was immediately dispatched to Morocco to aid the earthquake survivors. A medical and rescue party was also included.—Yours, etc., RALPH S. WHEELER. Timaru, July 25, 1960.
