The Political Parties
Sir, —The 10 points of difference between the National and Labour Parties, to which this country’s newspapers gave space and prominence, apparently did not have the immedia.te electrifying effect expected. Now "The Press” leader-writer has to dip his inky oar in an attempt to prod the fragile craft of National Party philosophy ahead of its Labour Party outrigger. The yardstick by which New Zealanders measure any philosophy or policy is the yardstick of results. Increased taxation, inflated prices, increased debt, and continuing devaluation of our money are the results which prove conclusively there is no difference between National and Labour. The mention of a' possible alternative ixbdnned by our free press which is free to discard any correspondence on the subject with: "No space for. a discussion on Social Credit.”— Yours, etc., GEO. M. EDMONDS. July 29, 1960.
