Table Tennis Hutt Easily Beaten By Australians
(New Zealand Press Association! WELLINGTON, July 28. Hutt Valley’s top table tennis players were beaten 5-0 by the touring Australians tonight. They failed to wiri a set against the tourists, who were superior in all phases of play. The Australians took just less than an hour to win the five matches.
The powerful backhand play of G. Jennings was the outstanding feature of the games, while his touring partner, M. Wilcox, displayed a good forehand drive. An exhibition match between Jennings and Wilcox was halved. Jennings won the first set 21-16, and lost the second 17-21. Results:— Singles.—Jennings beat C. Anderson, 21-18, 21-11; beat A. Roberts, 21-14, 21-14. Wilcox beat Roberts, 21-15, 21-4; beat Anderson, 21-18, 21-10.
Doubles.—Jennings and Wilcox beat B. R. Sim and Anderson, 21-19, 21-13.
