DURHAM STREET CROSSING
August 1 Set As Closing Date The Durham street railway crossing will be closed from 8 a.m. on August 1. When the Railways Department agreed to meet 25 per cent, of the cost of the Colombo street overbridge a condition was that the City Council should agree to the closing of Durham street, which it did. The closeness of the crossing to the railway station and to other crossings has hampered railway operations in the past, and necessitated a crossing-keeper being kept pn duty.
