WHARENUI BUS ROUTE
Change Approved By Authority An application by the Christchurch Transport Board to alter .the route of the Wharenui bus service has been granted by the Christchurch Metropolitan Licensing Authority in a reserved decision. The alteration involves re-rout-ing the service from Deans avenue'into Blenheim road and then into Picton ayenue instead of a route along Riccarton road turning into Picton avenue. Objections to the application, were made on behalf of 227 Wharenui residents and by 'the Riccarton Businessmen’s Association. “The Authority is satisfied from the evidence that there is a strong demand ’ for a transport service along the route applied for,” the decision said. “The authority is also satisfied from the information and evidence supplied by the board on the picking up and setting down of passengers at Peverel street and on Riccarton road that there is only a limited demand for this particular part of the service, and that there would be no great inconvenience caused by the alteration.”
