Summit Conference
Sir,—l certainly do not believe all I read in the papers, nor even all tbe* statements of Western leaders: but I deprecate the childlike faith of Ralph S. Wheeler, Francis Wm. Heal, and their friends in every bit of news that favours communism, together with their instant and unhesitating condemnation as utterly false of everything that favours the West. I am strongly opposed to communism, chiefly because it is atheistic and materialist, and nothing good or true can be built on such bases. I know the Western nations are far from perfect, but there is at least some Christianity among us. Let us work sincerely to improve ourselves, and be on cur guard against the obvious evils of anti-God comtnunim. — Yours, etc., G. F. SEWARD. July 5, 1960.
Sir,—Ralf* S. Wheeler, in insulting a Latvian who chose freedom, is about on a par with Khrushchev for bad manners. Millions of these men and women have gone through a hell that a
Main Body Digger would understand. Three and a half million refugees have left East Germany seeking and obtaining freedom in the West, and still the flow continues.—Yours, etc., OLD DIGGER. July 5, 1960.
