POLARIS FOR GERMANY
“Question Not Considered” LONDON. July 6. A British Foreign Office spokesman said today that the question of the use of the Polaris medium range ballistic missile by the Atlantic Pact nations had not yet been considered by the N.A.T.O. council The spokesman, answering questions at his daily press conference, declined to comment on a statement made in Bonn yesterday by Mr Wilbur Brucker, the United States Secretary of the Army, that he was in favour of the West German forces being equipped with the Polaris. A West German Defence Ministry spokesman later said that Mr Brucker*s statement came as a complete surprise and that the Bonn Government would not take steps by itself to get the Polaris rockets for the Federal armed forces.
