COUNSEL FOR EICHMANN
Cologne Lawyer Accepts Brief
(Rec. 11 p.m.) COLOGNE, July 6. A Cologne lawyer, Mr Robert Servatius, aged 65. who defended several Nazi leaders at the Nuremburg trials, has agreed to defend the alleged Nazi mass murderer, Adolf Eichmann. He had been asked to do so by Eichmann’s relatives, he said today. Dr. Servatius has practised law in Cologne since 1925. He said he was never a member of the Nazi Party. Dr. Servatius said it had been a difficult decision to accept the job. He did not name the members of Eichmann’s family who had approached him, said American Associated Press. Eichmann has brothers in Austria, as well as a wife and grown son, and younger children. The Israeli Government has not yet set a date for the Eichmann trial. Nor .have formal charges been announced.
