ROADS BOARD SUBSIDY
The Christchurch City Council expects to receive £182,697 in subsidies from the National Roads Board this year. The board’s allocation available to the city is approximately £186,000. Estimates approved by the council last evening showed that £25,420 in subsidy was expected for interest and sinking fund on loans for subsidised works; that the traffic committee would receive £2290 in subsidy for street marking; there would be £136,731 for works committee work and the parking meters account; and that £18.256 would be available towards the cost of street lighting.
